Detailed Information
The YWCA Southwest Illinois is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and
promoting freedom, justice and dignity for all.

We are a social justice organization that combines programming and advocacy in order to generate
individual and institutional change in three key areas:
– racial justice and civil rights
– women’s empowerment and economic advancement, &
– health and safety of women and girls.

We empower individuals to transform their lives and make our communities more just and
equitable for all its members. We invite you to stand with YWCA in our mission and our work. Since
the birth of our organization over 100 years ago, we have grown and developed into what we are
today. Our staff, volunteers and members strive to eliminate racism and empower women. Our
programs work towards those goals by providing people with the right tools to make a change in
their own lives and within the community.

Programs: Child Enrichment (before and after school care), Summer Camp for Children, Riverbend
Reading Club, Girls Circle, Boys Council, Community Tutoring, Get Out the Vote Initiatives, and
Racial Justice Programming. We also serve as a Community Center and make our spaces available
to groups in the community.
